Have a 12 inch snapper, got some questions....

worr8529 Jun 12, 2005 09:59 PM

I recently aquired a 12 inch snapper recently. I have had small pet turtles almost all my life. Large Snappers are a little different so i was wondering what ideal conditions it needs to survive (i.e. food, environment) and i was also wondering how do i tell if it is a male or female? thanks

Here's a website that may help you out : http://users.adelphia.net/~ericcampbell/stl/

A snapper that size needs alot of space. I keep mine in an outdoor pond setup that is well protected from predators (and neighborhood kids). If snappers are indigenous to your state, keeping him/her outside shouldn't be a problem as far as the weather goes. Best of luck. ~Christy
