Grey tree frog egg question....................

kammekammo Jun 12, 2005 10:10 PM

Have a few pairs of grey tree frogs and lately have been breeding and laying eggs. The problem is out of prolly 1500 eggs i have had 60 or so hatch They get almost fully developed in the egg and then they go bad or not develop at all. I tried them even in oak leaf water thinking they might be like dart frog tads but didnt work. Still only a few make it to hatching Anyone know whats wrong?? thanks

Probably has to do with water volume and/or quality. Are you using tap water? Be sure it's dechlorinated. Check your temps as well, could be too warm.

this is just a suggestion, but how do hatched tads act?I've watched a vidio where one kind of treefrog fed it's young unfertilized eggs,I know you say they develope, but maybe only a few always develop, while the others act as food?
