After talking to some of you I switch to Harlan feed from a mixture of dog food, corn, and mixed nuts. Well I have to say my rat colony is doing great with huge liters. I also believe that my snakes are gaining more weight because of this feed.

I get the same numbers with my mix of Vintage Gold or Vintage Mare and Foal horse feed mixed with dog food and any corn/bran/wheat cereal thats on sale.. 12-18 pups per litter with a high survival rate and good weight gain on the pups. Females ready to breed at 10 weeks if I choose to do so.. I don't but still... I've never liked the whole idea of lab feeds. I'd hate to eat the same thing day in and day out... My rats do better on the variety.

I got large litters too, from using SunSeed rat blocks. I buy them in a 25# bag and it lasts me half a year for 30 rats!
