NEW JERSEY Eastern kingsnake eggs .....

Keith Hillson Jun 12, 2005 11:26 PM

Well I thought my season was pretty much doomed when 2 females pooped out a bunch of slugs (maybe 2 good ones) as I used a different male than normal. Anyway my 2002 Burlington Co., NJ female (1st time breeder) was bred to "old reliable" my Monmouth Co., NJ male. Here are the dates and some pics....

Copulation took place on May 12th and May 15th

-
Female obviously gravid and in the blue, she subsequently shed on June 6th
-

-
7 perfect fertile eggs laid tonight June 12th exactly 30 days from copulation

Those are some sweet kings. If your selling any, I'd be real interested in getting one of those beauties when they hatch out.

Are you in Jersey? I'm up in bergen county. Hit me with a email if youre interested. zach_whitman@hotmail.com

One more thing Zach. Make sure you have the proper permits for keeping Kings in NJ. I just sold an Eastern King to a guy in NJ and he needed a reciept stating the Eastern isnt a native wild animal and is CB. Nj has some strict wildlife laws its best to live within them, not saying you dont but just a friendly reminder

Keith - 30 days seems too soon doesn't it? My Greenville laid at about 30 days from copulation as well.

I wonder if we both mated our pairs on like the very LAST day before it would have been too late for the female?

Funny you mention that because I thought the same thing as well. One thing of note is she hooked up with the male about 12 days after her shed but from my expirience females if not ovulating will not let a male penetrate. I agree I bet that if you hit it at the end of a cycle you get eggs quicker.
