Yes, I know - not the first and not the last! And there was me thinking we were being so careful!! Well, i've had a look at some of the other posts about this, just wondered if there's anyone out there who can add a few pointers. We've looked in all the obvious places (warm, secluded, safe, quiet, cosy - all that) but no luck! She disappeared two weeks ago - and the most obvious place would be the cellar (not that it's terrifically warm down there, but being a Victorian house in London, that's where there are likely to be mice!). Ok, not being too systematic here am I? Like I said, she disappeared two weeks ago - we still haven't figured out quite how she managed it. Her tank has sliding doors which are secured with one of those rubber door stopper numbers - somehow she managed to open those doors slightly and slither off towards some adventure! The night she disappeared was 'dinner night' which is why I am thinking that she might be in the cellar, but like all Vicotrian houses, ours has nooks and crannies just about everywhere! Does anyone know whether there is some kind of logic to their madness? is she likely to slither upwards (nope, she's not in the airing cupboard!) or downwards? Is she likely to have gone outside? We're not having the warmest of summers here in the UK, but the sun is showing itself every now and again, so the doors to the garden are open when we're in. If she did go outside, she's doomed! Neighbours cats, crows/rooks/whatever - big bloody birds with beaks the size of elephant tusks! My mind can't even go there! We've removed all the mouse traps cos my brain can't even begin to imagine my beautiful, sweet little girl caught in one of those! (they're for house-mice - it's a sad fact of London life: Victorian houses have mice, that's how it is - and no, we don't feed them to Lilly - her's are bought from a nice little outlet in Crystal Palace!) As we have a freezer full of mice, we have been defrosting and placing them, one at a time, near places where she might be (again - the warm, secluded, safe, cosy theory) - no luck with that method! What's the longest anyone has gone before finding their snake? Bearing in mind that it is warmish, possible food sources are available, millions of potential hiding places, scary garden with cats, foxes and big nasty birds. My son is heart broken - he really loves his snake (we've told him the truth but kind of 'prettified' it by telling him that she is probably having a lovely time in the cellar gorging on baby mice and then sunning herself in the garden before finding somewhere safe to hide) - and no replies with the words 'straw' and 'clutching at' in them please! I'de be really grateful for any suggestions! Cheers.
