Super Hypo means no spots, right?

chibicricket Jun 13, 2005 10:53 AM

When I got my leo, I was told she was a SHTCT, which when I got her, she had no spots at all. The base of her tail had no spots either. A year later, she is covered in spots, and her tail is also covered, but the base is still brighter orange. So, just for future reference if I decide to breed her, is she just a plain tang without the other fancy names?

I'd say she is a Hypo. I have seen many females develop spotting later on in their lifes after breeding and sometimes from stress or a cooler environment. I wouldn't be discouraged however. She'll produced Supers heck possibly even Baldys paired up to the right male and the male also doesn't have to be a Super! You use another hypo male with her and you'll produce some awesome Supers and Baldys! Just my two cents from personal experience. Nice looking Tang by the way!

I am with Chad on this one..... That leo of yours has very little spotting..... That is a nice hypo tang that will most likely give you some killer looking offspring.... I have seen some great looking babies come from females that developed spots.....
