I never would have guessed that. I can't wait to see them out of the egg but that one on the right looks like it has kind of a stainless steel silvery look to it. Maybe you can call them Ball Bearings? LOL Seriously though, congratulations on some very cool snakes.

Looks like proof that cinnamon and pastel aren't alleles (different mutations of the same gene) and based on the odds probably aren't even on the same chromosome.

Wonder what the double homozygous cinnamon pastel will look like since it should be possible too? That would be cool because you could breed it to normals and produce 100% pewters.

bristen Jun 15, 2005 07:01 AM

first - Congradulations Greg! Just a simply awesome animal... we are all anxious to see that thing out of the egg.. please post AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!

>
I thought if two morphs could of been alleles it would of been pastel and cinnamon... if those aren't, right now it appears like no morphs are alleles yet?

>
I don't think that anybody's produced a "super-pastel cinnamon" yet... pastels, super pastels, cinnamons, super cinnamons and pastel cinnamon are the only crosses yet as far as I know... so there's a lot of new stuff that will be showing up... a super-pastel super-cinnamon would be a jaw dropping snake I'm sure! The fun is far from over with Ball Pythons it seems

Bristen.

RandyRemington Jun 15, 2005 07:31 AM

I also thought there was a good chance that "cinnamon pastel" and "pastel jungle" would be alleles based on their similar appearances and the unexpected synergy of the pewter.

It's looking like lesser, mojave, and phantom are probably alleles.

bristen Jun 15, 2005 08:00 AM

>
oh yeah... especially with Ralph's now famous "lucy x phantom" clutch! no normals were produced... one could assume the butter is also in the group you mentionned above... I know it's not just me, but there a lots of similar features between the phantom and the mojave... I would also add, that the "super phantom" does in fact ressemble the super mojave somewhat... the "super phantom" appears to have more intense color to it but it is somewhat of the same colors showing up on the super mojave as it is maturing... all that being said, I have no difficulties believing that phantom and mojave are alleles... lessers and butters are almost certainly alleles as well... I should of thought a bit before asking my previous question hehe...

Bristen.
