Hello all. I just received an iguana yesterday afternoon. I dont know too much about them other than they eat vegetables. he looks good (to me anyways). It appears that part of his tail has been broken off, not sure from what though. he was found on a fence in a friends neighborhood and know one around has ever seen it before. So I dont really know anything about it or its history.
I will take a picture of it and post a link so you people can see if it looks healthy/normal to you.
I dont have a good cage/enclosure right now. I need to build one. I saw a good/inexpensive outdoor enclosure made from pvc and wire type siding that I may do. I live in southern california (for weather reference).
Will I be able to leave him outside all day? Does he need to be inside at night?
In the outdoor enclosure, does it need lighting/heat in there also?
I am on a budget, so I cant afford all of the high dollar stuff right now. I just need something to get me by for the time being so he can actually feel comfortable and have a place of his own.
I have access to a 60gal glass tank for indoors if I need it. I doubt that will be big enough for very long. Also, how much do these guys stink up the house? I live in a small home, and I know other animals kinda smell up, so just curious how the iguana's are.
How do I know how much food he should eat per day? I found a cool food chart as to what types of veggies he should get daily/occasionally.
Should I pick up any suppliments and if so, which ones and how often are they given?
As far as heat source/lights, etc. What do I need to get RIGHT NOW? I dont have anything as of now.
What kind of lights/how often should they be on?
How about water? Should they be misted daily? I think I remember hearing that somewhere.
ANY advice/info will be greatly appreciated!! I am a newbie to this and need to get him soome housing/cages asap!
I'll try and get back on here asap, I dont have internet at home so i try and get on for a little while at work daily.
Hopefully I can get some advice on what I need to get right away so I can stop and get some necesseties after work.
Thanks!
