i have a trio of knoblochi and they aren't hard to take care of. as hatchlings they can be problem feeders. and they like the temp cooler than other kings but besides that i know no difference.

I have a pair of them, and I've heard from other people that they are harder to take care of, but I'm no expert. Mine are doing great! Get them after they are feeding, and they'll do fine. Just get a care sheet and follow it. I got mine from Paul Weaver from Carolina Herps, and I highly recommend him. I know he has some knobs on the way. Here is a pic of my newest one. Derek

You should post them. I would like to see them. I think mine are considered reduced black, but I have seen some better ones. Carolina Herps and Crimsonking always have real nice ones. I have never had any problems with mine. A pet store guy here told me that he wouldn't carry them because of the amount of trouble they are. I guess people have their opinions. I like them, and my older one that is a female is about 2 yrs old. She is very docile. Here is another pic of the same one. I'll post a pic of the other one soon. Derek

really nice looking snake. two of ming are really reduced black like that one. except one has the weird ovals on its back. the third knob i have has alot of black. but still alright looking. he was the only one that gave me problems feeding. but now feeds no problem. i'll try to get pictures soon

thank you guys you helped me alot.
still if i'll order and they will do me some feeding trouble what do u recomend i shold do to make them start eating?
braind the pinkes?
cool them (the snakes) down for a week?
give them live food?

what did u find is the best way ?
thanks again

kingsnaken Jun 14, 2005 05:52 AM

I never had any problem feeding, but I've had to brain pinkies for my Pyros before. If you get them from a reputable breeder that are already feeding, you should have no problems. Derek

Here is a website for Paul Weaver. He should have some knobs soon. His are well worth the wait. I got mine from him, and never had ant problem. They are also reduced black at a great price. http://www.carolinaherps.com/ Derek

Check out the type II knobs on Steve Osborne's professionalbreeders.com

They are the nicest knobs I've ever seen. He is also an honest and outstanding breeder.

I seldom have problems with my Pyro eating, save for any expected tendencies. They do (mine anyways) usually "shut down" a little earlier than most other Kings. Typically late Aug. to Sept., and males will normally be a little more reluctant to feed during breeding season. Aside from these typical patterns, feeding them a little smaller than normal prey for other snakes of comparable size will keep them going.

Hey Ace,
Will the yearling males even be difficult feeders during mating season? If so, that would explain it. Derek

Ace Jun 14, 2005 08:21 PM

Usually I don't have problems with my male Kings (don't have a male Knob YET) till their 2nd to 3rd year during breeding season. When they do start refusing, I'll usually offer a live rat fuzzy or live hopper mouse (something that can't hurt them), just to get something in them. I've found that offering smaller than normal live prey is usually enough for them to take interest in it.

I don't have a problem with my knobs, but my pyro pyro (Arizona Mt.) kingmale sometimes only eats every other time. He eats, but not everytime. I highly reccommend knobs. Derek
