hatchling coloration...

danya Jun 13, 2005 05:44 PM

baby number 4 today
the first 3 are very very very yellow, and the striping is more of a pattern, instead of the regular bars

number 4 is like a grey, with just a tiny bit of a hint of yellow. the striping is normal except the one across the shoulder area, it's more of a diagonal, up on the neck and then down the opposit leg.

are some babies not as vivid yellow and they'll become more so later? or would this be a lavender?

I've never heard of this "lavender" thing so I'm not convinced it exists.

I did have one grey baby that turned (and continues to turn) yellow as he gets older. Grey to yellow! And I mean whole bands and patterned segments. Who would've guessed? :P

If you are breeding normal leos you are going to get normal leos..... Most babies are nice and colorful and as the mature they will look normal..... They will likely get spotted and you will not see the pattern it had as a baby..... Some may be more yellow than others and some will be more dull....

If you are selling these babies, I suggest you do not talk about them being lavender or het for lavender because there is no such thing.....

Geckos Etc. hatched a black baby from their Bell Albino group. There are photos here of its color progression. You will need to scroll down the page to find the section. The black baby turned grey and apparently its now YELLOW. Check it out:
