I read that you can put triple antibiotic on a turtles eye if it has white puss around it. I wouldn't try it because it sounds like it is not right. Have you ever done it?

Personally, I have NEVER tried that. I only had one turtle in all my years with an eye problem, it was given to me that way. After a week of warm soaking in a mix of gatorade & water, (I also added some vitamins in it too), warm temperature, and seclusion, It was success. If the diet is right & conditions are kept proper, very few illnesses should hit your colony. I would also separate it & put it in its own place. For your sake & the turtles, separate it. Good luck.
Triple anti-biotic ointment is NOT meant for use in eyes. OPTHALMIC anti-biotic ointment is what you want to use: This is a situation where it would make alot sense for you to go to a vet & get the proper ointment from her/him.
You will end up having plenty left after treating your turtle: enough to use on another turtle should the problem arise again.
In the meantime, soaking should help keep the eye(s) from crusting over or sealing shut & the pus from caseating. Soaking is not a cure, but can help alleviate the symptoms.
Another option might be to see if the rehabber can help you out.

I agree. You should see a vet. The boxie I had didn't have gunk coming out from it's eyes. Just shut. - It was from lack of care.
yes, there are triple antibiotics made specificlly for administering to the eye. Neomycin sulfate, polymyxin B sulfate, bacitracin, and hydrocortisone are used in Ophthalmic ( eye ) ointments. These ingredients are the same that are used in triple antibiotic topical ointments. But topical ointments usually contain additional ingredients not meant for use in the eye, that may cause irritatation and inflammation.I would not suggest this type of triple antibiotic for use in the eyes. find a triple antibiotic that says "ophthalmic".
