Hello:
I've recently bought a baby ball to add to my collection of pets which includes three pet rats they are not close by but they are in the same room,in the day, the ball is in his hide hole but at night, I see him some times reaching up and smelling the air with his tounge, the question is can he smell them? and if he can is this bad for the snake? any advice please....

I have a big male rat as a pet, in the same room as 3 ball pythons.
Damien, my large male, comes out at night and looks around his cage alot.
I'm sure there is no harm done. If anything, it makes him get exercise.

someone put a large, deep dish, pepperoni & sausage pizza in your room every day only to keep it locked in a glass box so you could only smell and drool over it !!!! HA-HA

Keeping them in the same room is a bad idea.
Sometimes if you keep snakes and rats in the same room the snake will stop seeing rats as food. I have seen it happen, I have also heard others say the same thing.
If I were you I would just move the snake out to another room.

I totally agree (If it matters). I would think that there would also be more of a chance of you getting bitten either because of the overall food smell to the snake or from handling the rat and forgetting to wash the smell off before reaching in.

I keep four mice mice in a cage wich resides i nthe same room as my bp.
I think it's non sense. I don't think my bp even knows they are there.
They are 5 foot away from his enclosure.
I handle my bp most of the time in that room.. I am serious.. he is clueless that four feeders are just feet away.
Alaways wash your hand before and after handling pets.
