Hey everyone i could use a lil help.......

i posted for help on the Ball Python forum, but i dont think ne one will help. But i found a tick on my newly acquired ball python, and im pretty sure i severed the head and just the body came off....can anyone give me some advice?

Igy,
...The treatment of the tick bite with possible imbedded head is simple. Apply antibiotic ointment to the site. This will help to prevent infection and also should help to soften any tick head parts that are still in the bite so they will eventually come out. The more serious problem is to make sure that ticks from the BP do not get to any of your other animals, especially the boids. I would treat all of your cages with Provent-a-mite. Follow the label directions on the Provent-a-mite can. I would also remove all substrate from the cages and replace it often with clean newspaper until you are sure you do not have taicks or mites in your collection. Mites and ticks are assumed to be the primary vectors in the transmission of IBD.

Ok that sounds simple enough, i am pretty sure that i purchased the snake with the tick already there. But i will make sure to thoroughly clean my cages. Thanks alot jeff...your a huge help
