a glass showcase like those found at jewelry stores for an enclosure? I have an opportunity to purchase one for a good price and was wondering if there are any pro's or con's that you all know of.

The only thing I would wonder about would be ventilation... I have no doubts that sufficient air can get in there for the critter to breathe, but I wonder if the humidity is going to get too high in there?
But, if the price is right, then you can probably replace a panel or two with something with holes for increased airflow if you need to...
