Roach feeding question...

ea7770 Jun 14, 2005 11:03 AM

Ok, so I got some B. Dubia from James yesterday and got them all set up. They're in a big Rubbermaid container with egg crate but no other substrate. My question is, how do most of you feed them? Do you just dump food in the tub and let them eat it off of the floor and/or egg crate? Or do you put it on a plate or something? Also, once the water crystals are added to the water, how long does it stay good? Do most of you refrigerate it after it's mixed? Or leave it at room temp? This is my first attempt at breeding roaches. So forgive me if these seem to be rather simple questions. By the way, the roaches that I got from James arrived safely, quickly, and 100% alive. Easy transaction. Thanks James!

I put food in a round plastic dish used at the bottom of plants to catch water.
I use a chick waterer for drinking and humidity.
I keep my temp around 85-90F day and night.
I only use a black light for heat which is on 24/7.
When I toss in carrots or other veggies and fruits I cut them up and place in another container as it goes bad due to high heat.
