star Jun 14, 2005 12:36 PM

Our Ball Python got out last night. Any ideas of how to catch him or lure him out? We're really worried! Thank you!

close all the doors you can and do a thorough room by room search (I'm assuming it was lost inside). Look in dark closed-in places (behind/under furniture, IN couches--we found one there once, in piles of book/clothes...) With the doors closed you can make sure it doesn't move room to room while you look. Above all, don't panic, snakes are very hardy and they usually turn up eventually, usually in a couple days though I have recovered snakes more than 3 months after they disappeared (and the thing had managed to get from the second floor to the basement, so don't underestimate them). Keep your ears open for sounds he might make moving around, and if you have non-carpeted floor you can always dust with a little bit of flour to see if he leaves a trail. Most likely he'll be hiding somewhere dark and small though. Good luck!
