Crested Gecko Escaped, how do we find it??

GeckoKid4 Jun 14, 2005 02:43 PM

We have had our gecko for only one month and he has escaped from his terarium. He has been gone for almost 3 days now and we are very worried and upset.
I have gotten up in the middle of night to search for him with a flashlight, but with no luck.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

This worked for me. Try putting a few lids with baby food out in various places. Closets and by large pieces of furniture like a couch are good places. Mine was gone for a week before I happened to find him at one of the dishes. Don't lose hope.

Thank you! We will try this and feel hopeful knowing yours was a week away!

I would put a tank or rubbermaid full of crickets out in a couple places.

Welcome to the world of Cresteds. These little guys tested 2 seperate cages and the male escaped from both. He first went missing after about 2 months in my 20 gallon high. I found him in a closet about 2 days later. Later, I moved them into a huge 55 gallon tall hexagon tank and he slipped out between the hinge on the lid. I found him 4 days later walking across my floor. The best way to find them is to look in dark quiet places(closets, cabinets, behind the stove/fridge, or under couches) and look when its quiet in the house and getting close to dusk. They should be hanging out someplace and easy to catch. If you can't find them by yourself, let them come to you. Put a little lid with babyfood on it and see if they will fall for the bait.
