Raspberries?

clarinet45 Jun 15, 2005 08:24 AM

I have a HUGE raspberry bush at home (i'm in college) and i'm going back there over break? My parents also raise there own Green peppers and tomatoes and watermelon, are any(or all) of those ok for Feng to eat? i know my parents don't use any chemicals, and they have had the plants for years. The sites i've looked at only list green leafy plants to feed them, but i know they can eat some fruit, i just don't know which ones. Thanks!

i know that raspberries are ok. just don't give them too many because it'll lead to diarrhea. when i get raspberries i usually give like two to them one day and by the next day, i've eaten the rest... my guys/gals love em.

a question i have is....about tomatos....i'm not curious about feeding the fruit of the tomato, but rather the plant itself. i put in a garden this spring and noticed that by now half of my garden doesn't get direct sun. when i dug the garden there were no leaves on the tree. so i have a couple of plants that aren't growing like their friends in direct sun.

Raspberries are ok in moderation, so is watermelon. Gordo goes ape every time he sees a piece of watermelon. Both of these can give them the runs if fed too often...so keep it as a treat only.
Regarding the tomato...I imagine a little piece very occassionally would be ok. I've never fed them personally, they're extremely acidic. You mention you only find leafy greens at the sites you visited....have you been to www.beautifuldragons.com yet?

watermelon yes in moderation, any melons ok if sparingly fed. rasberries ok....mine eat them every once in a while. tomatoes are just not liked by any of mine. they eat around them in the mix. my female eats bananas like she is attacking it. if you give occ. treat fruit but mainly greens and yellow squash and carrots, etc you are ok (and the bugs)

it's funny that you mentioned rasberries.. i'm looking for a rasberry plant, myself. i've been reading on rasberry plants and , yes definitely can have a laxative effect if eaten too much. (diarrhea) i'm thinking of offering the leaves for my female. i've read that the leaves make a great "women's herb", strengthens and tones uterus, great in pregnance and safe, etc.... i haven't read anywhere that rasberries or the plant itself is toxic for beardies. I've consulted the "toxic plants" lists on the internet and didn't see rasberries listed.
