just wondering if anyone has kept their guys on repti-bark.
I've never tried reptibark because of it's high cost. I get cypress mulch at Home Depot for $1.76 for a 2 cubic foot bag (probably about 30 pounds worth). However, the availability and cost of cypress mulch can vary greatly depending on where in the country you live. Orchid bark is a good (and usually cheap) alternative also.
I'm considering using Cypress mulch for my Colombian. My wife buys it at Lowes or Home Depot by the hundreds on pounds to use as mulch (go figure..) but it seems really nasty and I expect, although I haven't looked closely, that it would be full of bugs. Do you guys bake, wash, or otherwise treat this stuff before using?
I bake mine now. everyone told me i didnt need to. but mine waas infested with tiny ants that layed eggs init, and really pissed off my tegu. so yeah bake it to be safe
That's what I thought. My wife will love that going in her oven
.. Thanks much for the reply.
just use her best pans. they love it when you do that
Yea, I gotta find a better option. I've been keeping him on play sand but I'm learning that's not the best.
I've had no issues with bugs thus far (knock on wood).
Amazingly enough my wife has agreed to baking it in the oven, she's even going to do it.... Now if it would just stop raining for a few days so I could get a half-way dry bag of mulch...
