Very quick cage question

sw0rdf15h Jun 15, 2005 08:08 PM

Just wondering exactly how covered/crowded a corn snake's cage should be? Do they prefer open spaces or a bunch of crap cluttered around?

longer version...
[[Right now i have a cheap twisty branch for climbing (he rarely has so far) 3 cardboard tubes of varying width and length, and an empty food dish with a cardboard piece over it for a roof. That with a large water bowl makes the place pretty cluttered, but should I have more stuff to climb on?]]

Thanks!

((TGIF thank god I found ... this forum! You guys have been a great help, the care sheets and MULTIPLE articles online leave much to be desired... Hey anyone know of a good online reference for Corns?))

Sorry to tell you this but you are just wasting your money on vines and branches.... your corn will most likely be hiding 90% of the time under and in the tubes. snakes are always expecting to be eaten (instinct) and especially when they are young. so until your snake feels secure (they suddenly become secure when they are a little older) she will probably hide for about the first year of her life. Also here is the answer to your post, clutter is good. baby corns don't like open space. also you may want to do a little better than a toilet paper roll... (keep ONE in there for clutter) but it won't make him feel as secure as some of the other great options out there. I'll post a pic of hopes tank, I have added a humid hide as well. but snakes like to hide in places that have as little room as possible. You can pick up EVERYTHING I use in my tank for about $5 each.
