My RES is about a year old now and I was wondering if it's about time to start switching his diet to 100% vegitation. I want to avoid any sort of pyramiding and/or any other harmfull effects a bad diet may have. As of now, I keep some pond plants in his tank all of the time (usually anacharis), and he usually gets a couple feeders once a month (though, it takes him a while to eat them all). Every so often I'll throw in some commercialized food, sometimes pellets and sometimes dried shrimp peices.

I know I can't continue feeding him so much protein, is it time to move him along to more veggies? possibly some fruits? Or should I keep giving him feeders once a month for a while?

Thanks,
Amanda

You could prolly start to see if your turtle will eat some veggies. I wouldnt switch to 100% veggetables. The key is variety. Give ur turtle a little bit of both worlds...just not A LOT of protien.
