Southern Pacific...I think

I haven't been out much since my daughter was born (she's 2.5 months), but I did hike for a few hours today. I just saw this one snake and it is by far what I see most often - but I still get excited!

I am in Souther California by the coast, I found this guy on the Palos Verdes peninsula. When I hike around here I am never more than 2 miles from the ocean.
