Collared lizards

Dragon Master Jun 15, 2005 10:51 PM

I have a collared lizard. His name is Schrade. He is in a 75 gal. He is cool. HE is fast. Why does my green anole attack him? It only started recently. I've had him for 2 years, my anoles for 4. THis started when I got my baby dragon, who no longer is in that tank(he's with my other WD). Schrade is like 5 times the size of the anole, gop figure. It's usually the other way around.

its that simple.

Hes not atttacking because he's HULK anole dude, hes attacking for self preservation, feeling threathened for his LIFE

Can you imagine the stress that little anole has to feel every second of his existence with something that size (maybe going to eat him) ???

Collareds will EAT smaller lizards. I also saw ya had a dragon in there to for awhile, GLAD ya took him OUT.

Don't want to PREACH here but mixing anoles , collareds and I guess beared dragon is really
A SUPER BAD IDEA.

And if you say , well they have been together for 2 years, whatever.......

Then I say well where the heck are they going to go???
Point being they CAN NOT GET OUT- and away from one another. They are STUCK.

Thats why it is up to us to take the responsibility if we are going to keep these lizards, to read about their habitats / temps, and food and make their life as stress free and natural as we possibly can.

In nature NONE of them would EVER even RUN into each other.

They all carry differnt parasites. Dragons are notoroius for carrying coccidia. And I'm surprised but happy for your lizards that none got their toes, tails or heads chewed off so far!

Again I'm not trying to be a wise guy but if I were you I would atleast put a divider down the middle of that 75 gallon tank and let those different species live in peace, instead of being so stressed everyday of their life.

Can't say it any better than SEPERATE THEM ! And you will see a difference in them all.

Good Luck, let us know how it goes

I'm still trying to figure out WHY they are all in one piece. I'll prolly have to break out the 10 gal for the anole. I have spare stuff.

Good idea, put the anole in a tank of his own. If you want something to put with the collared get another collared. You certainly have the room with a 75 gallon tank.

They could have a blast in there. Make sure if you get one you know the sex of the one you already have, And if its male don't get another male, hehehehe.

Hey I really wish you all the best , did not mean to come off harsh, just seemed like an accident waiting to happen with all of them in the same tank.

Take care, glad to have you here

It's cool. I'll see what I can scrounge up. I'm probably going to be redoing all my tanks.
