my most recent satanic hatchling dropped its tail at some point tonight! this is a first for me, and definitely a downer.

i hope it pulls through this.

and of course, im trying to doze off, but something tells me not just yet. i get out of bed, look at the egg chamber, and the 2nd henkeli finally came through. hasnt shed yet, but ill get pics tomorrow morn.

these ups and downs are killing me.

well it was a nerve-racking past 2 days after the tail was dropped, but fortunately for us both, the hatchling still seems to be doing ok. as odd as it may sound, i think it ate its own autotomized tail. kinda freakish, but as long as it stays ok, i have no complaints. still active, still chirping every time i pick up the critter keeper, and the cricket i left for it while i was out of town has disappeared. i hope i didnt do something to stress the lil bugger out, i would hate to actually lose this lil girl (at least thats what ill call her till she develops something).

luckily the 2 henks are still tip top!

Congrats Ben? For some reason I really want to call you Ben hajha, hoping that is your name, I read a lot more then I post on here. I would like to see some pics of these henk hatchlings. Too bad about the tail tho. I have a tailess female phant and she is really neat still, I think they camoflauge better without the tail personally, she blends into a mass of twigs much better. Hope all goes with with the little "girl" and the new henks. Take care.
