I've read that 40-60% relative humidity is good for Ball Pythons. I usually keep mine at around 55% RH. There are a few ways to raise humidity.
1) Close the AC vents in your snake room. Cold air is dry. Keep room temps in the mid to high 70's. I usually keep mine at around 74-76 degrees.
2) Place the water bowl closer to the heat source. This allows for more evaporation and more humidity.
3. Use a larger (wider) water bowl. More surface area exposed to air means more evaporation and more humidity.
4. Use fewer vent holes. (Only use this method if you still keep good ventilation. Sacrificing good ventiliation for higher humidity is a bad thing.)
5. Big Apple Herp sells these coolio little devices called Humidimats. I was purchasing some items the other day, and upon checkout they offered Humidimats at a discount. I bought one just for fun. (I was curious, and it only cost around $3.00 anyway.) I haven't actually tried it yet, but it looks like a really great idea. No more sacrificng ventilation. No more misting the enclosures. No more worrying about dry eggs when maternally incubating. This thing is just all aroung COOLIO, YO!
