Mealworm Question

throatoyster Jun 16, 2005 12:35 PM

I was getting bored with going to the pet store every week so I got a whole bunch of meal worms in bulk, and put them in a big flat container with oats and blah blah blah just like the guy told me to. Some of them however are starting to go into their larva stage (or whatever it is that they become next). Are these ok to feed to adult leos?

The larvae will turn into beatles. Some geckos will eat the larvae but most aren't interested. What you should do with your mealies is just leave out what you'll be feeding for the next few days. Put the rest in the fridge. They go into hibernation and thats stops them from growing. When you need some more, just take some out gutload them for a couple days then feed them to your geckos. Mealworms can last a couple of months in the fridge.
Take care,

You can also just leave the beetles and they will have baby mealies and then you wont have to buy them anymore cause you can breed your own!
