New Hog....Eastern or Southern??

FloridaHogs Jun 16, 2005 03:29 PM

Hi, I am new to this forum. I recently rescued a hoggie from certain death in my neighborhood. My brother-in-law found her in a flowerbed. I am guessing she is an Eastern, but am not sure. Can anybody help me?? I am also assuming it is a she because of my males reaction to her. Also, can anyone give me an idea as to which color phase she is? I found some pictures online that suggested "Salmon Phase"? Is that even a phase? Thanks a bunch.

How have you been doing? Missed you at the last Northern Va. reptile show. You keeping any hogs? I'm getting ready to purchase my first one. Anyway, have a good one and I'll see you at one of the shows.

You have two awesome looking hogs Greg. That yellow eastern is especially nice. You keeping that eastern happy with an good supply of toads? I'll be getting me my first hog (Western)in about three weeks. I'll put some pics up when I do. It will be a yellowish phase female.

Its an eastern and by the look of the weight loss in the back half of the snake she could have dropped eggs in that flower garden. Nice snake good luck with her.

She appears to have an old injury where there might possibly have been a break. I am not sure though....she last ate 2 weeks ago and 3 days ago her eyes were blue. They are clear now, so she should shed soon. She has been very active, so I do not know how concerned I should be with her "injury". I will try to see if I can get a good pic. Tomorrow I will go look for eggs, since you mentioned the possibility!! Thanks.

Sorry, didn't clarify. The weight loss seems to start at the "injured" area. Hopefully I am wrong. I am taking her to the vet next week just to make sure she is OK. I will wait for her shed.
