Odd Question

emilyisrad Jun 16, 2005 06:02 PM

My oldest beardie is housed in a large wire screen rabbit cage that I had covered in porch wire to keep him in. I decided a few months ago that he was too big to fit through the large screen so I took the extra porch screening off. Well he has been sticking his head through the wires in an attempt to escape. As a result he has developed two black spots on his beard. They don't seem to hurt him and there are no scales missing. I'm just wondering is this is something I should be concerned about? They've been there for about a month and are not fading.

If he can get his head through the bars, then you need to put the screen back around it. Any cage than the occupant can stick it's head through, whether or not the rest of the body can follow, is the wrong cage.

Good luck!

A rabbit cage is for a rabbit. It is highly likely that you are not providing the appropriate environment for your dragon by using a wire cage. It is very difficult if not impossible for you to be properly regulating heat and humidity. The wire contact on the dragon is dangerous and could be deadly.
