WTOL (Toledo, Ohio) 16 June 05 Family Looking for Missing Iguana
East Toledo: East Toledo isn't exactly a tropical paradise, but don't tell that to Buddy, a five-foot-long iguana that escaped from his owner's cage and is now thought to be living in the trees.
"We're figuring that he didn't go too far before he went up high," said Kim Donofrio, Buddy's owner. He iguana escaped Tuesday afternoon from his home. He apparently clawed his way through the screen to get out into the heat. The Donofrio's have now posted these flyers to let their neighbors know the vegetarian reptile is on the loose.
"I'm not really worried about it, it's probably more acred of us then we are of it," said Scott Chaney, a Delence Street resident. Marian Chaney agreed, saying, "I went out and looked at my garden and nothing's gone it's still okay."
It's a bit of an usual situation for the folks on this street. "He is fast, he could up a tree in no time, said Donofrio. She doesn't expect anybody to catch Buddy, but she hopes somebody will see him and call. "He's good for the summer, but if he stays out until the cool weather he's going to be in bad shape."
If you do see the iguana, call the Donofrio's at 419-691-6848. It's also on the flyers in the neighborhood.
They've owned Buddy for six years and hope he'll be back in his cage soon. His owners do not think he is a danger to the public, but he could use his tail if he feels cornered.
