I've seen these lately in my cousin's yard in Palm Beach. Can't catch them, fast as hell. the darker one runs on his back legs like a Basilisk. What are they?

I've seen these lately in my cousin's yard in Palm Beach. Can't catch them, fast as hell. the darker one runs on his back legs like a Basilisk. What are they?


Im no expert, but those certainly looked like basilisks, probably Basiliscus vittatus. They have been introduced into Florida, so its most likely them.

The lizards in the pictures are male and female Basilisks. We have photographed several individuals in South Florida, most recently a nice male atop a seven foot neighborhood wall. These guys are very well established in the Miami-Dade area.
