Curtus with R.I.

dumahclan Jun 16, 2005 09:00 PM

I've got a juvie black blood with an R.I. I've already scheduled a vet apointment tomorrow. He's treated one of my B.P.s R.I.'s before so I know he's versed in reptiles. However, he may not have much experience with bloods. I've ready from previous posts how if amikacin sp? is used, only half should be given compared to that of any other boid. I've also heard that you could wait an extra day before giving another dose. Which would be preferred? Which drug should I ask to be used? Vet appointment is tomorrow so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and thank you all for participating in such an educational forum.

Doc gave her a shot of Enrofloxacin and sent another home with me to administer in 4 days. Says she's going to be fine. WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

That sounds awesome!

For future information, doses for species (or related species) are usually noted in drug formularies that the vet uses (hopefully he/she updates theirs regularly). It never hurts to voice your concerns about a specific drug however, the vet should have the resources to research any related topic
