Oh what a feeling...sharp sunglow litter finally arrives

combs reptiles Jun 16, 2005 10:16 PM

This is something!!
My first boa litter. My 5 year old sharp female , gave birth tonight. I havent got a good count on them yet, but it looks good. No slugs , all live so far. None were in the sac, but most have some stuff still hanging out the belly. Im hoping that will all suck up by tommorow.
This is awsome, i have had many a ball clutch which is cool, but this is neat, to go in and see some white things in the back of the cage.
I was really starting to wonder if i was gonna get babies at all. I didnt see her get big, ovulate or anything. and she only shed a month ago. so go figure.
I think i only see 1 sunglow, but quite a few salmon het sharp.
The one salmon stands out, has a line going down the side and some cool back markings on the neck, with a really clean tail.

the dad, a salmon het sharp, was only 18 months when i started breeding them. but was 4-1/2 ft and apparently a good breeder.

Im stoked!!!
ill see what the final tally is tommorow.
Heres a couple pics.

Thanks

this salmon het sharp is bad. A keeper most likely.
I believ this is a sunglow, ill be able to tell better after sheds probally, but it looks like its the only sunglow , so far of all the albinos..

Thanks

18 total
8 salmon het sharp
6 albino (one may be a sunglow) I think i got skunked on the glows
and 3 norm het sharp.

I cant complain, although i would have loved to see a sunglow or two.
Thats genetics for ya, its just a crap shoot. Look at Matuzak, 9 sunglows in a salmon het to a norm het breeding. its like dropping a handful of quarters on the ground, sometimes ya get more heads, sometimes more tails.

Over all im happy just to have 18 healthy babies no slugs or stills.

Thanks again

from here I bet that one is a sunglow but do you have a close up pic of it without the goo? If you can post a pic of it and congrats again!
