Automatic misting

Anyone had luck on a do-it-yourself misting system? I was think of using a pond/fountain pump, a 5 gal bucket for H2O, some tubing, and a timer. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or experience doing this.

Do you mean inside or outside?
I bought one of those outside misting systems that I hung on the porch lattice and hooked up to my backyard faucet by way of a y-splitter and a timer. It provides a good amount of misting for my whole back porche area, but it's STILL quite warm back there.
I'll also be installing some shade cloth later on, but even with all this, I'll still have to watch my chameleons during the hottest part of the day.

For my indoor setup I used one of those big pesticide spray tanks (new and clean of course) and connected lines to a timer and up to the cage then laid drip lines and spray nozzles where applicable. The whole setup cost maybe around $40? I didn't really keep track. I just put fresh water into it and pump it up every morning when I am feeding, takes less than 5 minutes.

a pond pump unfortunatly will not work.

It is designed to move large volumes of water rather than small amounts at a higher pressure. most pond pumps don't even generate enough pressure (head) to get to the top of the cage.

I also use the garden sprayer/ timer setup but I keep putting off trying this pump:

it's cheap and has the pressure but for all i know may sound like a mack truck every time it runs...

others have bought just the pumps from the commercial misting systems and pieced the rest together themselves

well, unfortunately I live in an apt so the faucet type is out of the question, I wouldve used the washer hookups but I have one so I cant. I know what you are talking about, I sat at Lowes for a half hour with the kit in my hands trying to figure out a way I could use it (damn its too bad I have to wash dishes lol). I also thought about the pressure issue with the pond pump, but thought it might work if I put the bucket higher than the cage, thus the water would be running "downhill" rather than making it pump the water up. What do you think about that? I have a freind that works at a pet store, he has an open item I would get 1/2 off and he said if it didnt work I could take it back so i guess its worth a shot........
