Any book recommendations?

goini04 Jun 17, 2005 08:57 AM

Hi all,

I know that there are several books out there about "hots" whether it be keeping or just general information. I was wondering that before I go out buying a bunch of books, whether there was any in particular that anyone has read and highly recommends over others?

Any recommendations would be great!

Best Wishes and Thanks!

Chris

If money isn't much of an issue, I'd say "The Venomous Reptiles of the Western Hemisphere" by Jonathan Campbell and William Lamar. There are two volumes, and they'd prob cost about $130 each at best, but they are absolutely great books. Maybe check out amazon for some used copies?

Throatoyster's suggestion is a good one. Here is another. This book is old, but may still be available if you look hard enough: "Snake Venom Poisoning" by Dr. Findlay E. Russell.
This is particularly good since it will show you what can happen if you wind up on the wrong end of a fang. It also has some good advice on what to do & not do in the case of that eventuality.

IMO, you can't go wrong getting Snakes of India---The Field Guide. My copy cost $67.95 shipped. Well worth it.
