Dented egg update--Thanks!!

NikkiM Jun 17, 2005 03:23 PM

I just wanted to thank you all who have been providing me advice with my boxies eggs et al. Wanted to let you all know that the change of vermiculite has done the trick, at least so far--2 of the badly dented eggs have improved by over half!!! I know that it might be to late for these 2 eggs, but I am encouraged that perhaps I have saved the other 4.

Thanks again for all the helpful info--Also, I saw that someone had written about a female laying different clutches of eggs--so could my 3 toed female possibly lay another batch of eggs?

I think that if she does, I will let nature incubate those and see "Who does the better job". But, I would like to know in case I need to find the nest to place a protective mesh around it....Thanks again for your time,

NikkiM

She can very possibly lay a second clutch of eggs - but not right away. Maybe in a month or two.... Good luck! I hope they all hatch for you. Then I hope we'll start talking about how to raise hatchlings. But listen to me with a grain of salt - I don't have all that educational reading like others. (Even though I may not read all that much, know all the medical stuff, and argue points with others who read all the books, but I think I know a little bit about them.) I've been raising & breeding them since 1962.

She sure could lay again: a month or so sounds about right... thats the interval with my easterns. I'm glad to here you're doing better with the eggs.
