genaroleon Jul 14, 2003 07:47 AM

Decided not to though, seeing as how I dont know anything about them. I know CE has a couple of beauties.. and im later today going to start reading up on them.. but im wondering what the difference is between the Green emerald tree boas and the Yellow,Red etc "Chondros" - i think thats what they are called.

I had seen them before in the stores and really payed no attention to them.. but had come across one this weekend that was so yellow it was almost glowing.. he/she was amazing.

just wait until you buy your first Green Tree Python. They really are not that demanding... as long as you buy captive bred. Check out some of the non-kingsnake forums out there, you will be impressed.

Emerald Tree Boas and Green Tree Pythons are similar in the
type of care, (IMO from what I head read GTPs are easier, as
far as tree boas go) high humidity!! Etbs get about 2ft
bigger and have much larger teeth (although both have big teeth!)
I have seen tame ETBs and GTPs but those are the exceptions
it seems rather than the norm. Both are gorgeous snakes,
myself I am planning on going the GTP route, I am raising up
an ATB (Amazon Tree Boa) as my starter since they are more
fogiving of the husbandry, it is good practice. And of course,
the obvious difference boas = live birth, pythons = eggs.

Thanks for the info.. I remember someone a while back saying they had bought an ETB .. and that her husband did not believe they had such huge teeth (something along those lines).. Not that I want to, but Im wondering what a bite from them would feel like.
I was just briefly looking over the net and i think those Chondros are pythons - which was not what I was hoping for. Then I saw "ARU" and "Soron" GTP which again threw me off since they look exactly the same..im assuming differnt locale (or my eye just is not trained to pick up the differences)? I guess its time to broaden my horizons.
