What is this behavior?

Sometimes I see my turtles pushing up with their feet on the bottom and rubbing their top shell against the underside of the filter. They might do this for a couple of minutes. Anybody know what this is about? Is it problem?

Mine does that too. And sometimes I will scratch his shell. He likes the sensation.

Thanks--I tried it and my big, laid-back turtle liked it. the other 2 were undecided--they're shy.
