New Borneo Morph?

earths exotics Jun 18, 2005 08:36 AM

We hatched out some Borneo babies last Sunday and we found these oddly colored animals. The normal is a sibling for comparison. They appear to be lacking yellow pigment and some have extreme fading on their sides. We'll just have to wait and see how they mature. Keith

First... CONGRATS on the babies.. nice job.

Sencond... HOLY F'in Crap! They are smokin!! How many babies were hatched out like that? How big was the clutch? Is this the first time you bred that particular pair together? Were the adults farmed babies when you got them?

Its looking very promising. You'll have to wait a couple of sheds to make sure they dont color up. But it looks unique to me. Congrats again Keith, they own!

The first Axanthic Borneo bloods ever produced! This could get the blood market going! Find an albino and breeding them to get double hets. From there breed back the hets to hopefully produce a snow, a Solid white snake with Red eyes!!! One could only dream about it. Beautiful looking babies! I hope everything works out for you! Congrats!!!

I feel in my gut that its axanthic! With no scientific proof none of us can be sure. I sure hope those photos werent doctored!

Even the tail stripe at the end, where it should be most contrasting, seems to lack all accounts of yellow on the python in question. Your lucky! But then again, this luck brings about a whole lot of waiting...just see....

Was that the only light colored borneo to hatch out?? Is it male? I fing sex determination to be quite easy with bloods as males will always stick their' hemipenises out !

there is plenty that will get the blood market going.we all just need a year or two to prove things out.

I hope they do turn out that way as they mature, and prove out in the years to come, always great to see more great looking bloods and short tails. Gorgeous little ones.

there does seem to be some yellow directly behind the head, though

Hi Guys and thanks for the compliments. To answer some questions, the parents are very nice normal holdbacks that we have produced since we've been working with Borneos in 96'. This is their first time breeding. About half the clutch had this cool appearance. For those of you who have asked, we won't be making any available till we've proved this out genetically and that is if the appearance continues as they mature! If your going to Daytona we'll probably have at least one of them at our table that you can check out. Keith

I can't imagine your excitement at seeing those pip -- did you faint? You definitely have some discipline to hold them back and see what it turns out to be. I'd say you're doing the right thing, too, no matter how difficult the temptation is.

Enneagram Jun 20, 2005 06:27 PM

Hell I would HAPPILY hold them back!
And their babies!
