mali coloration...

flbriaz Jun 18, 2005 03:57 PM

Now i know most mali males are darker browns and blacks with yellows on their backs and females are usually tans. My 6 month old mali is tan, but has the phemoral glands of a male. Id there a certain age that the males begin getting darker or are they born dark?

Males won't start showing their coloring until they are a year or two old. I have a male that is reportedly over three years old who is just now really showing his blacks. I don't know how reliable femoral pores are for sexing Malis. I know they aren't reliable at all for sexing Geryis. Hemipenile bulges are the best way to sex, but I don't know when those begin developing, either. I've not owned a Mali young enough to see the changes.

(I don't know if the pics will show up in order)

Sorry about that. The current pic is the first one. His baby pic is the second one.
