Did it again...new hog!!

FloridaHogs Jun 18, 2005 04:10 PM

Well, I went and looked in my brother-in-laws garden for eggs, and look what I found instead!!! What a find! This little guy looks "delicate" compared to my 22" male. Just to give you an idea to size, the bowl to the side of the pic is only 4" in diameter. Real friendly though, not a lot of show. Just let me pick'em right up. Sweetie pie !! Funny thing is, I live in a pretty well developed neighborhood. Ya know, one of those where all the houses are on 1/4 acre lots with nice lawns. It is not even a new hood, so why are these guys showing up so much? Most people in this neighborhood (at least the ones I know) are snake-a-phobes. My brother-in-law being one of them. Maybe I will win him over yet.

Anybody have a guess as to sex??

Can't believe it....fed less than 5 hours after rescue. Was so docile I thought I would see what he/she would do. A real sweet heart this one!!

When I first moved to the suburbs of Houston in the late 70s, Eastern Hogs were the most common snake in our neighborhood. You didn't see them everyday, but they certainly weren't rare and if you found a snake in our neighborhood, it was generally a hog.

I think it is the fact that toads survive so well in suburban areas.
