cham wont use his tongue

My male panther has been eating and drinking fine. he gets dusted crickets. He also gets mealworms, superworms, wax worms and silk worms to give him a veriaty(spelling) He has a dripper and gets misted 4 times a day he has a uvb light and basking light temps and humidity are all fine.He has been pooping fine with nice white urate(sp). Just a little info you might want to know up until yesterday he was using his tongue then I noticed yesterday when he went to eat he just walk up to the cricket and tried to bite it and not use his tongue. he has not used his tongue since. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the article. My husband and I checked his mouth and his tongue is still there. we hand fed him a cricket and he has the ability to lick his lips, meaning when he had finish the cricket he could put his tongue some what out of his mouth. his mouth does look a little off color I think What color should his mouth be. There were no white dots or any sign of infection. Well it dose not look like when one of my pythons got mouth rot. We are calling the vet first thing monday to set up an appointment I hope all goes well. He is my favorite.

do you cup feed him? it might be a case of "lazy tongue" where the cham finds it a waste of energy to hve to shoot out the tongue, and will simply walk up to the prey to eat it.
Could lso be vitamin deficiency or surplus... what kind of supplmentation do you use. Not all are great (as I have found out thru trial & error)...
It's good you are taking him to the vet. Hope it's just "lazy tongue" & nothing else!

Well he used his tongue today about 3 min. ago but it did not seem to stick to the cricket. he tried several times and hit it dead on but no stick. I use Reptivite with d3 every other day is that to much or to little he is about 5-6 months old. thanks for any advise i can get

i just wanted to wish you good luck at the vets hopfully it is just lazy toung and not a vitmin deficientcy let us know
