Gypsy is sick!!! PLZ help!!

schizmsgrl Jun 18, 2005 09:25 PM

Ok I need help, my little Agama, Gypsy appears to be sick!!! I cannot get her to eat or hardly even drink, she just lays around and hardly does anything!! I pick her up and she just lays there! I dont know what is wrong with her, but i am afraid she is gonna starve herself. She is getting a bit thin!!

I read something on one of these forums about force feeding vanilla flavored enusre, is that what i should do? and if so, how do i go about force feeding a lizard??? with an eyedropper or sumthing??? any advice is greatly appreciated, please!

Thanks , Schizmsgrl

Hi Schizmsgrl, been awhile. I know how special she is to you, so if it were me, I would call your vet and have her seen. Yes you could force feed, and may HAVE to anyway, but first you have to finds out whats wrong, and FIX it or forcing her to eat will only be a bandaid, and not really make her feel better.

But until you get her there, you could give her pedialite, I spelled that wrong, but buy it in the baby section of market. It will help her to have energy. You can use an eye dropper and drip some on her nose see if she will lick it.

Baby foods can also be used if your told to feed her. gerbers, veggie and chicken is a good one, also can use an eye dropper or empty syringe tube. Make sure to add her calcium suppliment power to her baby food, mix well.

Have you ever had a fecal done on her? For worms? They acan get very lethargic and loss their appetites, and lose weight with parasites.

I would get one done, as if this is it she will go down hill quick.

I wish I could say whats wrong and help but when they are that sick and losing weight it's better to recommend a VET.

Please let ua know how she is, I have benn on here since you first got her .

Sure hope she will be fine.
