Some Guidance needed?

Kaa22 Jun 19, 2005 07:10 AM

Well I currently keep Burms, but had recently decided to get into BP's. Anyone have any info, caresheets, recommendations towards husbandry or anything of the matter? I will be acquiring a bunch of CH females soon, along with a Lemon Pastel Male. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Well I need a bit more help. What would ya'll see as much more beneficial. Heating the bottom of the racks or the back or the racks, if the room stays at around 82 degrees?

Either one is fine. I use belly heat, but back heat works just as well. The somewhat important thing (it really isn't that important, not nearly as much as people will lead you to believe) is that you have a heat gradient, with a hot side and cool side. That way they can regulate their own temps. However, I hear of a lot of people keeping both sides warm during the summer to speed up growth.

I know about the whole hot spot deal. It's just that I was wondering which is more beneficial, Belly heat, or back heat? Since this is a rack (which kinda sucks), I can't use overhead heat with an radiant heat panel like I do my burms, and have done with other large constrictors.

I always use belly heat in animal plastics racks and my snakes never complain, in fact if anything, they eat better and are more relaxed in the rack then they ever were in an aquarium or see through cage. Also, if you use belly heat, they are getting some radiant heat from the heat cable that runs above them as well.
