I don't really buy into the whole form thing, if you mean Eastern or Western. Thinking about the early days of BHP breeding, I would strongly doubt that anyone actually knew the localities of their stock. Unless, of course, they were illegally collected or came directly from founder stock with locality data at a zoo or institution. I see such a variance in BHPs and no two look alike, not even from the same clutch. I have seen animals with black bands edged in orange and pink with a yellow background hatch right beside strict black and white Cal. King-looking babies. Even if at one time the localities were kept pure, I would imagine that they have not stayed isolated over time. If you have seen the website and already heard this, I appologize for ranting, and this baby is from the "Black" clutch. A selective project where we're going for thin bands and high contrast.

yeah Ive seen it, no worries. But it does seem like what was deemed a western form was a smaller size and tended to be more black and white. Of course if there was a difference it has probably been lost through breeding as you say. Im sure there is very little locale data on the ones in the US due to the murkiness of origins. Nice snakes though, one day, one day...
