Here are some photos of some recently acquired animals. They are recent captives, but settling in nicely. The female has pretty large follicles and I saw copulations the other day.

Who did you end up getting them from? The female has a good amount of red. There are a couple locales in NV where they do. I am happy you finally got some. Get a nest area in there right away. You don't want her to egg bind. Keep us posted on their progress. Tom
Hi Tom,
These are from south Maricopa County. I collected an adult pair within one meter of each other. I also have another adult male and a sub-adult (possibly female) from the same range not far from where I collected the first pair. I made a quick trip down after mating was finished in my Gila colony and before oviposition started.
I have placed a nest box in with the adult female, but it doesn't look like she has ovulated yet (based on ultrasound).
I've treated them all with fenbendazole, but I am waiting until after this reproductive effort to treat with metronidazole. The adult female ate immediately and all are eating out of my hand at this point.
I like the orange in the female. One male has some orange color filtering into the white tail (seen in the previous photo), but the other doesn't (the tail is uniformally off-white). Otherwise, the males look nearly identical.

Nice looking chucks. I really like the redbacks.
MArk-these are real lookers! Can I inquire where these where obtained as I am also interested in some red backs but most of them have little red, these are exceptionally colored animals. Cheers!!

It is a great pleasure to have you in the world of Chucks! If you only knew how many times I have drooled over your Gilas you could not sleep at night!! Those are really great chucks you have! Several years ago a young fella & friend of mine ( Ian Murray) had some chucks from the Harquahala Mountains-- his female was almost as red as the male !!
I sure hope to see you often here---- there are a "few crazies" hanging out here but all in all --- a SUPER BUNCH of FOLKS!!
Several years ago I was thinking of raising Gilas outdoors like my chucks---- but the "isk analysis" overpowered the passion --- so I let the idea go.
Last mopnth I was staying in Catalina State Park near Tucson & while out hiking----- a Gila came walking right at me down a trail!! Got some great shots and felt so very lucky to see one in habitat !! That WAS & STILL IS the highlight of my Az trips!!
