i just aquired a baby map turtle. it is the size of a silver dollar and i think he is either a false map turtle or a common amp turtle. i live in vermont and "found" him in a local lake. the tank is set up with a uva/uvb lamp, a heat lamp, a thermometer, filter and some fake plants. i put feeder guppies in the tank and about 3/4 is water and there is a rock for him to bask on as well as rocks to climb on. i feed him canned mini mealie worms and small freeze dried crieckets and died shrimp and commercial dried turtle food. the tank water is set to 72 to 75 degrees. i just brought it home yesterday and he is eating already. my question is, am i doing this right? i'm afraid that he will die but i think that i'm okay. PLEASE HELP ME!!

The only other advice I have with maps is to pay attention to your water quality. They really need clean water as they get shell rot so easy (if the spaces between the scutes look like they are separating and have a white spongy growth you got shell rot. It is treatable if caught early though).
