Found this in the backyard need help identifying garter subspecies?

wangtastic Jun 19, 2005 06:30 PM

K so, about a half hour i found a snake skin sticking out of a little hole in the backyard. Grabbed the snake skin and relised that the foremost part of it was still wet-ish, so i pulled and heard a hiss...so then i dug it up and put it in a bucket. I'll probably let it go soon but I just wanted to check with your garter ppl and tell me when it is. I haven't seen many garter snakes that look like this. Grey-ish head and lack of any bright colors. The scales aren't highly keeled like I've seen from other garter snakes in the past but it's not smooth. Eyes are not elyptical.

Hey thanks dude. After I posted here I found the other thread "what is it".
I'm glad 3 ppl say it's a brown snake now.

I found it to be quite timid and handled it for a while.
