Color change after feeding..

I have been feeding my patternless male large crickets for weeks now and I switched over to wax worms to gain weight. I noticed that he has changed colors from a dull dark lightish brown to a bright yellow, even the small amount of carrot on his tail is coming out. Has anyone else heard of this or have had it happen?
