ok i got my 50/50 cal king a few days ago. he is about 17-18 inches. how old does that make him? also i was wondering about soaking? how does that work? do u put it ina bath tub with luke warm water and let it soak? still new to the whole snake thing! also a snake this size, should i be feeding pinkies or go up to fuzzy's? or bigger? all help is appreciated. i realize i am a noob and asking noob questions, so please forgive me lol!! but honestly all help is appreciated! thnx

Wow he grew 8" already ? lol You said below he is under 12". Well if he is somewhere inbetween then pinks are fine about 2-3 a week. I would do 2 pinks then 3-4 days later do 1 pink. As far as soaking you dont have to do it. A snake will soak on its own in its water bowl if it chooses to. If you see your snake soaking alot (80% of the time) then your cage is too hot or he has mites. I know someone was bangin' you for asking basic questions and you mentioned you read up on them but these are questions that are covered in most books. I would suggest the following

Common Kingsnakes (AVS) by David Perlowin

There are also numerous care sheets on Kings on the internet. Feel free to ask questions on this forum but also keep in mind these questions have been asked millions of times and this forum is equipped with a search feature as well so you can explore those threads. Good luck with your King and dont take my post as a gripe just trying to let you know where and how you can get as much info as possible.

That is a beautiful snake. If you go to google, and type in california kingsnake care sheet, they have plenty of information on them. It doesn't hurt to have a book to look at either. I don't mind the noob ? Every herper has to start somewhere. Derek
