Have you tried mice then

I have tried mice, but after a day of my girl staring at the mouse, we have a new freaking pet! A mouse (how sad) we named it Lucky Lunch. I need some other choices besides live food ie.. rats, mice, roaches (cant do roaches). So far they love crickets and chicken & liver cat food! Thanks

The sardines, are they in a can? I could pick those up and try. When feeding them chicken, is raw or cooked, does any one give there tegu left overs. Would it be ok if i feed the tegus one of the pre cooked rotisery (sp?) chickens from the super market? Is the White fish also pre packaged?

I feed defrosted frozen or fresh sardines - raw ... I'm sure that the canned ones wouldn't hurt - but wouldn't want to offer them too frequently due to the quantities of oil that they are packed in.

I feed chicken raw, however cooked chicken wouldn't hurt at all - I feed raw chicks, so don't see why feeding raw adult chicken - legs or something would do any harm at all.

The whitefish is just whitefish fillet - normally I buy it frozen -

mine do occassionally get left overs - particularly if its burger or sausage or something

The two I purchased from Bert are 1 years old and have a great temper very easy right now! I'm trying to keep them off live food. I will look for the worms, but seem to be a lil expensive for two 1 year old tegu's.

what are your basking temps? Also watch the cat food, Its high in Phospheres which could lead to problems with kindeys and liver.

This week they have been eating cat food, i've been busy with work. I havnt been able to get them crickets, but plan to on the way home. When your tegu was a year old what did you feed it. I'm trying to stay away from the rodents. I'm going to try some gold fish this weekend. So far i can get them to eat crickets and cat food. I want to try the turkey again soon. Last try they didnt even look at it, maybe if i put a lil cat food on it they will.

Mine eats chicken, the occasional mouse (although he won't always), and his complete favorite, that nasty dog food looking ZuPreem "Monitor Diet" ( http://www.zupreem.com/animal/reptile/monitor.shtml ). I wish he liked mice better as his stools are nasty on the diet stuff.
